Anxiety
Experiencing anxiety is a normal and natural part of life. However, at times, anxiety can be excessive and can negatively interfere in our daily lives.
What is it?
Anxiety is a natural emotional and physical response to perceived threats. Anxiety can be helpful in alerting us and keeping us safe. It can also be overwhelming, debilitating, and the response to anxiety can often be unhelpful. It is kind of like the smoke alarm going off with no real fire!
Some common symptoms include: excessive worrying, overthinking, intrusive or recurring thoughts, difficulty concentrating on the present moment, difficulty sleeping, increased heart rate, sweating, agitation, gastronomic pain, an urge to avoid whatever may be causing the anxiety and more.
How Can Therapy Help?
Although anxiety is a helpful and normal emotion, it can be frustrating and defeating when it controls us or takes us away from enjoying our daily life. Therapy can be a space to explore anxiety, understand it’s origins, and learn ways to manage it differently in order to get your life back. I hope to help you break the chains of self doubt and overthinking.
